“Covey of Quail”
When I was a boy in Sebring Ohio we lived at the edge of town. Just across the road were acres of abandoned farm land. The world was a safer placeat that time so I was permitted to roam where I would, provided I stayed within the sound of my mother’s voice so she could call me back home if needed.
These Quail, sometimes fifteen or twenty in a flock would gather back in the “V’s” of split rail fences, and would all fly out as I passed.
